✧ Those of the People of Badr Whom the Prophet ﷺ Took Captive

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَعُثْمَانَ الْجَزَرِيِّ قَالَا:
فَادَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُسَارَى بَدْرٍ، وَكَانَ فِدَاءُ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ، وَقُتِلَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ قَبْلَ الْفِدَاءِ، وَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَقَتَلَهُ فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَمَنْ لِلصِّبْيَةِ ؟ قَالَ: " النَّارُ
Translation
✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ ransomed the captives of Badr. The ransom for each man among them was four thousand. 'Uqbah b. Abi Mu'ayt was killed before the ransom. 'Ali b. Abi Talib took charge of him and killed him. He said, 'O Muhammad, who will care for the children?' He said, 'The Fire.'
