✧ The Domestic Donkey

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ حَسَنٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْقَلٍ،
أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ سَأَلَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَوْ أَحَدَهُمَا، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُبْقِ لَهُمَا السَّنَةُ شَيْئًا يُطْعِمَانِ أَهْلَهُمَا مِنْهَا الْحُمُرُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَطْعِمْ أَهْلَكَ مِنْ سَمِينِ مَالِكَ، فَإِنِّي إِنَّمَا قَذَرْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ جَلَّالَةَ الْقَرْيَةِ
Translation
✧ Two men from Muzaynah—or one of them—asked the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned that the year had left them nothing with which to feed their families except donkeys. The Prophet ﷺ said: Feed your family from the fat of your wealth, for I only deemed distasteful for you the village scavengers.
