✧ The Domestic Donkey

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ،
أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ سُئِلَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ، فَقَالَ: " نص إضافيإِنَّمَا نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْهَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ لِأَنَّهَا كَانَتْ هِيَ الْحَمُولَةَ "، ثُمَّ تَلَا: ﴿قُلْ لا أَجِدُ فِي مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ مُحَرَّمًا ﴾، الْآيَةَ
Translation
✧ Ibn Abbas was asked about the meat of domestic donkeys, and he said: The Messenger of God ﷺ only forbade it on the day of Khaybar because they were the beasts of burden. Then he recited: "Say: I do not find in what has been revealed to me anything forbidden," the verse.
