عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ قَالَ:
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ فَسَأَلَ ابْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أَكْلِ الضَّبُعِ فَنَهَاهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: فَإِنَّ قَوْمَكَ يَأْكُلُونَهَا، - أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذَا - قَالَ: إِنَّ قَوْمِي لَا يَعْلَمُونَ - قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: وَهَذَا الْقَوْلُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ - فَقُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ: فَأَيْنَ مَا جَاءَ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، وَعَلِيٍّ وَغَيْرِهِمَا ؟ فَقَالَ: أَلَيْسَ قَدْ " نص إضافينَهَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ أَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ ؟ " فَتَرْكُهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ
Translation
✧ A man from the people of Syria came and asked Ibn al-Musayyib about eating hyena, and he forbade him. The man said to him: "But your people eat it" — or something like this. He said: "My people do not know." Sufyān said: "And this view is more beloved to me." I said to Sufyān: "Then what about what has been reported from Ibn ʿUmar, ʿAlī, and others?" He said: "Did not the Prophet ﷺ forbid eating every beast of prey with fangs? So leaving it is more beloved to me."
