✧ Fasting on the Day of Ashura

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ صَامَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ، وَأَمَرَ بِصِيَامِهِ، فَلَمَّا فُرِضَ رَمَضَانُ كَانَ مَنْ شَاءَ صَامَهَ، وَمَنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ
Translation
✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ came to Madinah, he fasted the day of Ashura and commanded it be fasted. Then when Ramadan was made obligatory, whoever wished fasted it, and whoever wished left it.
