✧ Fasting on the Day of Ashura

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، أَرْسَلَ إِلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ لَيْلَةَ عَاشُورَاءَ أَنْ تَسَحَّرْ، وَأَصْبِحْ صَائِمًا، قَالَ: فَأَصْبَحَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ صَائِمًا
Translation
✧ Umar b. al-Khattab sent to Abd al-Rahman b. al-Harith on the night of Ashura: 'Take the pre-dawn meal and begin the day fasting.' He said: So Abd al-Rahman began the day fasting.
