✧ Fasting on the Day of Ashura

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ:
مَا عَلِمْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَتَحَرَّى صِيَامَ يَوْمٍ يَبْتَغِي فَضْلَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ، إِلَّا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ، يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ، أَوْ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ
Translation
✧ I did not know the Messenger of God ﷺ to single out any day for fasting, seeking its virtue over others, except this day, the day of Ashura, or the month of Ramadan.
