✧ Fasting on the Day of Ashura

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ مَعْبَدٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ قَالَ:
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِقُدَيْدٍ، فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَطَعِمْتَ الْيَوْمَ شَيْئًا -لِيَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ - ؟ "، قَالَ: لَا، إِلَّا أَنِّي شَرِبْتُ مَاءً، قَالَ: " فَلَا تَطْعَمْ بَعْدُ حَتَّى مَغْرِبِ الشَّمْسِ، وَأْمُرْ مَنْ وَرَاءَكَ أَنْ يَصُومَ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ was at Qudayd, and a man came to him. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'Have you eaten anything today, on the day of Ashura?' He said: 'No, except that I drank water.' He said: 'Then do not eat anything after this until sunset, and command those behind you to fast this day.'
