أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ، قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ: إِيتِ قَوْمَكَ فَمُرْهُمْ فَلْيَصُومُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ، لِيَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ، قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ وَجَدْتُ بَعْضَهُمْ قَدْ تَغَدَّى ؟ قَالَ: " فَمُرْهُمْ فَلْيُتِمُّوا
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq informed us, he said: Maʿmar informed us, from al-Zuhrī,
✧ When the Prophet ﷺ came to Madinah, he said to a man from Aslam: 'Go to your people and command them to fast this day, the day of Ashura.' He said: 'What do you think if I find some of them have already eaten lunch?' He said: 'Then command them to complete the fast.'
