✧ Wiping over the leather socks

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ،
أَنَّ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ، كَانَ يُفْتِي بِالْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، وَكَانَ لَا يَمْسَحُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَتَرَوْنِي أُفْتِيكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مَهْنَؤُهُ لَكُمْ وَمَأْثَمُهُ عَلَيَّ، وَلَكِنَّهُ حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ الطَّهُورُ
Translation
✧ Abu Ayyub al-Ansari used to give the ruling of wiping over the leather socks, but he himself would not wipe. It was said to him, and he said, "Do you think I would give you a ruling whose benefit is yours and whose sin is upon me? Rather, purification has been made beloved to me."
