✧ Hastening the breaking of the fast

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ:
كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ، فَقَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ: انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لِي بِشَيْءٍ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ، فَقَالَ: الشَّمْسُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: " انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لِي "، قَالَ: فَنَزَلَ فَجَدَحَ لَهُ فَشَرِبَ، وَقَالَ: " وَلَوْ تَرَاءَاهَا أَحَدٌ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ لَرَآهَا، يَعْنِي الشَّمْسَ، ثُمَّ أَشَارَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْمَشْرِقِ "، قَالَ: " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ اللَّيْلَ أَقْبَلَ مِنْ هَاهُنَا فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ
Translation
✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey, and he said to a man of the people: 'Dismount and mix for me something,' while he was fasting. He said: 'The sun, O Messenger of God.' He said: 'Dismount and mix for me.' He said: So he dismounted and mixed for him, and he drank. And he said: 'Even if someone on his camel could see it—meaning the sun—he would see it.' Then the Prophet ﷺ pointed with his hand toward the east and said: 'When you see the night approaching from here, the fasting person has broken the fast.'
