أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّهُ
غَزَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، غَزْوَةَ تَبُوكَ، قَالَ: فَتَبَرَّزَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، قِبَلَ الْغَائِطِ فَحَمَلْتُ مَعَهُ إِدَاوَةً قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَيَّ أَخَذْتُ أُهْرِيقُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الْإِدَاوَةِ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْثَرَ وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ يُخْرِجُ جُبَّتَهُ عَنْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ، فَضَاقَ كُمَّا جُبَّتِهِ، فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَيْهِ فِي الْجُبَّةِ حَتَّى أَخْرَجَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ مِنْ أَسْفَلِ الْجُبَّةِ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ وَأَقْبَلْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى يَجِدَ النَّاسَ قَدْ قَدَّمُوا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَأَدْرَكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، إِحْدَى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَصَلَّى مَعَ النَّاسِ الرَّكْعَةَ الْأُخْرَى، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، يُتِمُّ صَلَاتَهُ فَأَفْزَعَ ذَلِكَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَأَكْثَرُوا التَّسْبِيحَ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ صَلَاتَهُ، أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَحْسَنْتُمْ - أَوْ قَالَ: أَصَبْتُمْ - يَغْبِطُهُمْ أَنْ صَلَّوُا الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا
Translation
✧ He raided with the Messenger of God ﷺ in the expedition of Tabūk. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ went to relieve himself before the morning prayer, and I carried a water vessel with him. When the Messenger of God ﷺ returned to me, I began pouring from the vessel over his hands. He washed his hands three times, then rinsed his mouth and nose, and washed his face. Then he tried to pull his jubbah off his forearms, but the sleeves of his jubbah were tight, so he inserted his hands into the jubbah until he brought his forearms out from the bottom of the jubbah. Then he washed his forearms up to the elbows, and performed ablution wiping over his leather socks. Then he came, and I came with him, and found that the people had put ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf forward. The Prophet ﷺ caught one of the two rakʿahs and prayed the other rakʿah with the people. When ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said the salām, the Messenger of God ﷺ stood to complete his prayer, and that alarmed the Muslims, so they said subḥān Allāh a lot. When the Prophet ﷺ finished his prayer, he turned to them and said: You did well—or he said: You did right—commending them for praying the prayer at its proper time.
