✧ Charity on the orphan's wealth, seeking it out, and giving his zakat

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ كَانَ يُزَكِّي مَالَ يَتِيمٍ، فَقَالَ لِعُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ: " إِنَّ عِنْدِي مَالًا لِيَتِيمٍ قَدْ أَسْرَعَتْ فِيهِ الزَّكَاةُ، فَهَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ تُجَّارٌ أَدْفَعُهُ إِلَيْهِمْ "، قَالَ: فَدَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ عَشَرَةَ آلَافٍ، فَانْطَلَقَ بِهَا، وَكَانَ لَهُ غُلَامٌ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْحَوْلِ، وَفَدَ عَلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: " مَا فَعَلَ مَالُ الْيَتِيمِ ؟ " قَالَ: قَدْ جِئْتُكَ بِهِ قَالَ: " هَلْ كَانَ فِيهِ رِبْحٌ ؟ " قَالَ: نَعَمْ، بَلَغَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ قَالَ: " وَكَيْفَ صَنَعْتَ ؟ " قَالَ: دَفَعْتُهَا إِلَى التُّجَّارِ، وَأَخْبَرْتُهُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْيَتِيمِ مِنْكَ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " مَا كَانَ قَبْلَكَ أَحَدٌ أَحْرَى فِي أَنْفُسِنَا أَنْ لَا يُطْعِمَنَا خَبِيثًا مِنْكَ، ارْدُدْ رَأْسَ مَالِنَا، وَلَا حَاجَةَ لَنَا فِي رِبْحِكَ
Translation
✧ Umar b. al-Khattab used to pay zakat on an orphan's wealth. He said to Uthman b. Abi al-As, "I have wealth belonging to an orphan, and zakat has depleted it quickly. Do you have merchants to whom I can entrust it?" He said, "So he gave him ten thousand, and he departed with it. He had a servant. When a year had passed, he came to Umar, and Umar said to him, 'What happened to the orphan's wealth?' He said, 'I have brought it to you.' He said, 'Was there any profit?' He said, 'Yes, it reached one hundred thousand.' He said, 'How did you manage?' He said, 'I gave it to the merchants and informed them of the orphan's standing with you.' Umar said, 'No one before you was more likely, in our estimation, to feed us unlawful gain than you. Return our capital; we have no need of your profit.'"
