7006 6952 - عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ نَحْوَهُ. متن مخفيأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَعْمَلَ ابْنَ الْأَتَبِيَّةِ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَزْدِ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَلَمَّا حَاسَبَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ هَذَا لَكُمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَفَلَا فِي بَيْتِ أَبِيكَ وَأُمِّكَ جَلَسْتَ فَتَنْظُرُ أَيُهْدَى لَكَ أَمْ لَا ثُمَّ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَطِيبًا فَقَالَ مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ نُوَلِّيهِمُ الْعَمَلَ مِمَّا وَلَّانَا اللهُ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي أَحَدُهُمْ فَيَقُولُ هَذَا الَّذِي لَكُمْ وَهَذَا أُهْدِيَ لِي أَفَلَا فِي بَيْتِ أَبِيهِ وَأُمِّهِ جَلَسَ فَيَنْظُرُ أَيُهْدَى إِلَيْهِ أَمْ لَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يَغُلُّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ شَيْئًا أَوْ قَالَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا إِلَّا جَاءَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ إِنْ كَانَ بَعِيرًا جَاءَ بِهِ لَهُ رُغَاءٌ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ بَقَرَةً جَاءَ بِهَا وَلَهَا خُوَارٌ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ شَاةً جَاءَ بِهَا تَيْعَرُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهُ حَتَّى بَدَتْ لَهُ عُفْرَةُ إِبِطِهِ
Translation
✧ 7006 6952 - ʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwa, from Abū Ḥumayd al-Sāʿidī, similarly. The Prophet ﷺ appointed Ibn al-Atabiyya, a man from the Azd, over charity. When the Prophet ﷺ settled accounts with him, he said: 'This is for you.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Why did you not sit in the house of your father and mother and see whether anything would be gifted to you or not?' Then the Prophet ﷺ stood as a preacher and said: 'What is the matter with men whom we appoint over work from what Allah has entrusted to us, then one of them comes and says: This is what is for you, and this was gifted to me. Why did he not sit in the house of his father and mother and see whether anything would be gifted to him or not? By the One in whose hand is my soul, none of you embezzles anything—or he said: of that anything—except that he brings it on the Day of Resurrection on his neck. If it is a camel, he brings it bellowing; if it is a cow, he brings it lowing; and if it is a sheep, he brings it bleating.' Then he raised his hands and said: 'Have I conveyed?' Then he raised his hands until the pale color of his armpit appeared.
