✧ The man who gives above the age that is due from him

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ هُشَيْمِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ:
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُصَدِّقًا فَوَجَدَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ بِنْتَ مَخَاضٍ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: لَا أُعْطِي فِي أَوَّلِ صَدَقَةٍ أُخِذَتْ مِنِّي نَاقَةً لَا ظَهْرَ فِيهَا، وَلَا بَطْنَ - أَوْ قَالَ: ضَرْعَ - وَلَكِنِ اخْتَرْهَا نَاقَةً، قَالَ: فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ الْمُصَدِّقُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَعْلِمْهُ الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ، فَإِنْ تَطَوَّعَ بِشَيْءٍ فَاقْبَلْهُ مِنْهُ
Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a zakat collector, and he found that a man owed a bint makhāḍ. The man said: “I will not give, as the first zakat taken from me, a she-camel that has no back and no belly”—or he said: “no udder”—“but choose from among them a fine she-camel.” He said: The collector mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said: “Inform him of what is due from him, and if he voluntarily gives something extra, accept it from him.”
