✧ Rinsing the Mouth After Eating Fruit and What Fire Has Touched

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: الثِّمَارُ الْخِرْيِزُ وَالْمَوْزُ ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَغْسِلَ مِنْهَا يَدَيَّ وَلَا أُمَضْمِضَ إِلَّا أَنْ تُقَذِّرَنِي أَنْ يَلْصَقَ شَيْءٌ مِنْهَا بِيَدَيَّ، فَأَمَّا لِغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ فَلَا، قُلْتُ: فَمَا شَأْنُكَ تُمَضْمِضُ مِنَ اللَّحْمِ مِنْ بَيْنِ ذَلِكَ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّ اللَّحْمَ يَدْخُلُ فِي الْأَضْرَاسِ وَالْأَسْنَانِ قُلْتُ: أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ عَلِمْتَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ فِي أَسْنَانِكَ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ أَكُنْتَ مُبَالِيًا أَلَّا تُمَضْمِضَ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، وَاللهِ مَا كُنْتُ أُبَالِي أَلَّا أَتَمَضْمَضَ مِنْهُ أَبَدًا
Translation
✧ I said to 'Ata': 'What about soft fruits and bananas?' He said: 'I would not wash my hands from them, nor rinse my mouth, unless something from them sticks to my hands and bothers me. As for anything else, no.' I said: 'Why do you rinse your mouth from meat specifically then?' He said: 'Meat gets between the molars and the teeth.' I said: 'Do you think that if you knew that none of it entered between your teeth, would you mind not rinsing your mouth?' He said: 'No, by God, I would never mind not rinsing my mouth from it.'
