✧ Patience, weeping, and wailing

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ،
قَالَ لِعُمَرَ: إِنَّ نِسْوَةً مِنْ بَنِي الْمُغِيرَةِ، قَدِ اجْتَمَعْنَ فِي دَارِ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ يَبْكِينَ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنَّا نَكْرَهُ أَنْ نُؤْذِيَكَ، فَلَوْ نَهَيْتَهُنَّ، فَقَالَ: " مَا عَلَيْهِنَّ أَنْ يُهْرِقْنَ مِنْ دُمُوعِهِنَّ عَلَى أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ سَجْلًا أَوْ سَجْلَيْنِ، مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ نَقْعٌ، أَوْ لَقْلَقَةٌ
Translation
✧ They said to Umar: "Women from Banu al-Mughirah have gathered in the house of Khalid b. al-Walid, weeping over him. We dislike annoying you, but perhaps you should forbid them." He said: "What harm is it for them to pour out a bucket or two of their tears over Abu Sulayman, as long as there is no dust-throwing or loud wailing?"
