✧ Patience, weeping, and wailing

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُعَانِقٍ، أَوْ عَنْ أَبِي مُعَانِقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
أَرْبَعَةٌ بَقِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ: الْفَخْرُ بِالْأَحْسَابِ، وَالطَّعْنُ بِالْأَنْسَابِ، وَالِاسْتِسْقَاءُ بِالْأَنْوَاءِ، وَالنِّيَاحَةُ، وَإِنَّ النَّائِحَةَ إِذَا مَاتَتْ وَلَمْ تَتُبْ كُسِيَتْ ثِيَابًا مِنْ قَطِرَانٍ وَدِرْعًا مِنْ لَهَبِ النَّارِ
Translation
✧ Four things remain from the affair of the Jahiliyyah: boasting about lineages, slandering lineages, seeking rain by the stars, and wailing. Indeed, when the wailing woman dies without having repented, she will be clothed with garments of tar and a coat of fire."
