✧ Patience, weeping, and wailing

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي نَصْرُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، سَمِعَ نَوَّاحَةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ لَيْلًا، فَأَتَى عَلَيْهَا فَدَخَلَ فَفَرَّقَ النِّسَاءَ، فَأَدْرَكَ النَّائِحَةَ فَجَعَلَ يَضْرِبُهَا بِالدِّرَّةِ، فَوَقَعَ خِمَارُهَا فَقَالُوا: شَعَرُهَا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَقَالَ: " أَجَلْ فَلَا حُرْمَةَ لَهَا
Translation
✧ Umar b. al-Khattab heard a wailing woman in Madinah at night. He went to her, entered, and separated the women. He caught the wailing woman and began striking her with the whip. Her head covering fell, and they said: "Her hair, O Commander of the Faithful!" He said: "Yes, indeed, there is no sanctity for her."
