✧ Patience, weeping, and wailing

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِامْرَأَةٍ قَدْ أُصِيبَتْ بِوَلَدِهَا فَسَمِعَ مِنْهَا مَا يَكْرَهُ، فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهَا يَعِظُهَا، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: اذْهَبْ إِلَيْكَ، فَلَيْسَ فِي صَدْرِكَ مَا فِي صَدْرِي، فَوَلَّى عَنْهَا، فَقِيلَ لَهَا: وَيْحَكِ مَا تَدْرِينَ مَنْ وَقَفَ عَلَيْكِ ؟ هُوَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاتَّبَعَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا عَرَفْتُكَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " اذْهَبِي إِلَيْكِ، فَإِنَّمَا الصَّبْرُ عِنْدَ الصَّدْمَةِ الْأُولَى
Translation
✧ That the Prophet ﷺ passed by a woman who had been afflicted by the loss of her child, and he heard from her what he disliked, so he stopped by her to admonish her. She said to him, 'Go away, for there is not in your heart what is in my heart.' He turned away from her, and it was said to her, 'Woe to you! Do you not know who stopped by you? He is the Messenger of God ﷺ.' She followed him and said, 'O Messenger of God, I did not recognize you.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'Go away, for patience is only at the first shock.'
