عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عِيَاضُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَرْحٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ يَقُولُ: "
خَرَجْتُ مَعَ مَرْوَانَ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدِ فِطْرٍ - أَوْ أَضْحَى - هُوَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ حَتَّى أَفْضَيْنَا إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى، فَإِذَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ الْكِنْدِيُّ قَدْ بَنَى لِمَرْوَانَ مِنْبَرًا مِنْ لَبِنٍ وَطِينٍ، فَعَدَلَ مَرْوَانُ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ حَتَّى حَاذَى بِهِ فَجَاذَبْتُهُ لِيَبْدَأَ بِالصَّلَاةِ "، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا سَعِيدٍ، تُرِكَ مَا تَعْلَمُ، فَقَالَ: كَلَّا وَرَبِّ الْمَشَارِقِ وَالْمَغَارِبِ، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ، لَا تَأْتُونَ بِخَيْرٍ مِمَّا نَعْلَمُ ثُمَّ بَدَأَ بِالْخُطْبَةِ
Translation
✧ I went out with Marwan on the day of Eid al-Fitr - or Adha - he was between me and Abu Mas'ud until we reached the prayer place, and there was Kathir b. al-Salt al-Kindi who had built for Marwan a minbar of bricks and clay. Marwan turned toward the minbar until he was beside it, and I pulled him to begin with the prayer. He said: O Abu Sa'id, what you know has been abandoned. He said: No, by the Lord of the easts and the wests, three times, you will not bring anything better than what we know. Then he began with the khutbah.
