عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ:
أَوَّلُ مَنْ قَصَّ تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ عَلَى عَهْدِ عُمَرَ، اسْتَأْذَنَهُ فِي كُلِّ جُمُعَةٍ مَقَامًا فَأَذِنَ لَهُ، فَكَانَ يَقُومُ قَالَ: ثُمَّ اسْتَزَادَهُ مَقَامًا آخَرَ فَزَادَهُ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ عُثْمَانُ اسْتَزَادَهُ مَقَامًا آخَرَ، فَكَانَ يَقُصُّ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ "، قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ: وَسَمِعْتُ غَيْرَ الزُّهْرِيِّ يَقُولُ: كَانَ عُمَرُ إِذَا مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُصُّ أَمَرَّ عَلَى حَلْقِهِ السَّيْفَ
Translation
✧ The first one to narrate stories was Tamim al-Dari in the time of 'Umar. He asked his permission to stand every Friday, and he permitted him, so he would stand. He said: Then he asked him for another standing, and he granted it. When it was the time of 'Uthman, he asked for another standing, so he would narrate stories on Friday three times." Ma'mar said: I heard someone other than al-Zuhri say: When 'Umar passed by him while he was narrating stories, he would pass the sword over his throat.
