✧ The Prophet's ﷺ Night Prayer and His Witr

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ مَمْلَكٍ،
أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِاللَّيْلِ، فَقَالَتْ: كَانَ يُصَلِّي الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ، ثُمَّ يُسَبِّحُ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي بَعْدَهَا مَا شَاءَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ فَيَرْقُدُ مِثْلَ مَا صَلَّى، ثُمَّ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مِنْ نَوْمَتِهِ تِلْكَ فَيُصَلِّي مِثْلَ مَا نَامَ، وَصَلَاتُهُ تِلْكَ الْآخِرَةُ تَكُونُ إِلَى الصُّبْحِ
Translation
✧ He asked Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, about the Prophet's ﷺ night prayer. She said: He would pray the later 'Isha', then glorify Allah, then pray after it as much of the night as he wished. Then he would finish and sleep for a time similar to what he had prayed. Then he would wake from that sleep and pray for a time similar to what he had slept. That last prayer of his would continue until morning.
