✧ The Prophet's ﷺ Night Prayer and His Witr

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ
أَنَّهُ بَاتَ عِنْدَ خَالَتِهِ مَيْمُونَةَ قَالَ: فَاضْطَجَعْتُ فِي عَرْضِ الْوِسَادَةِ، وَاضْطَجَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَهْلُهُ فِي طُولِهَا، فَبَاتَ حَتَّى انْتَصَفَ اللَّيْلُ أَوْ قَبْلَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ، ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَجَلَسَ فَمَسَحَ النَّوْمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الْعَشْرَ الْآيَاتِ الْخَوَاتِمَ مِنْ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى شَنٍّ مُعَلَّقَةٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى فَقُمْتُ فَصَنَعْتُ مِثْلَ مَا صَنَعَ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِي وَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِي يَفْتِلُهَا، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ، ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ حَتَّى جَاءَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ
Translation
✧ He spent the night at his maternal aunt Maymunah's house. He said: I lay down across the width of the cushion, and the Prophet ﷺ and his wife lay down along its length. He slept until midnight, or a little before or a little after it. Then the Prophet ﷺ woke up and sat up, wiping sleep from his face. Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al 'Imran. Then the Prophet ﷺ went to a hanging water skin, performed ablution, and did it well. Then he stood and prayed, and I stood and did the same as he had done. Then I went to his side, and he placed his hand on my head and took hold of my ear, twisting it. He prayed two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then performed witr. Then he lay down until the muezzin came to him. Then he stood and prayed two brief rak'ahs, then went out and prayed the morning prayer (Subh).
