✧ What Is Recited in Witr and How the Takbir Is Done in It

4730 4697 - عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ ذَرٍّ [١]، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ.

The text that “the like of it” refers to

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُوتِرُ بِسَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَقُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْصَرِفَ مِنَ الْوِتْرِ قَالَ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ [١] كذا في طبعة المكتب الإسلامي، والصواب: (عمر بن ذر).

Translation

✧ 4730 4697 - Abd al-Razzaq, from Amr b. Dharr [1], from his father, from Sa'id b. Abd al-Rahman, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ. Hidden text: The Messenger of God ﷺ used to perform witr with “Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High,” “Say: O disbelievers,” and “Say: He is God, the One.” When he wanted to conclude the witr, he said: “Glory be to God, the King, the Most Holy,” three times, then he raised his voice on the third. [1] Thus in the edition of al-Maktab al-Islami, and the correct form is (Umar b. Dharr).
