Translation

✧ Regarding His saying: "If you fear that those who disbelieve may persecute you" – it was revealed on the day the Prophet ﷺ was at Usfan and the polytheists at Dajnan. They faced each other. The Prophet ﷺ prayed Zuhr with his companions, four rak'ahs, with their bowing, prostration, and standing all together as one. The polytheists were tempted to raid their belongings and fight them. Then Allah, exalted is He, revealed to him: "Let a party of them stand [in prayer] with you." The Prophet ﷺ prayed Asr, and he lined up his companions in two rows. He said the takbir with all of them, and the first row prostrated with him, while the others remained standing and did not prostrate, until the Prophet ﷺ and the first row stood up. Then he said the takbir with them, and they all bowed. Then the back row advanced and the front row withdrew, and they alternated in prostration as they had done the first time. The Prophet ﷺ completed the Asr prayer in two rak'ahs.
