✧ The imam who is charged with [leading] in his mosque

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ قَالَ:
أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فِي مَسْجِدٍ بِطَائِفَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ: وَلِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَرِيبًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْمَسْجِدِ أَرْضٌ يَعْمَلُهَا قَالَ: وَإِمَامُ أَهْلِ ذَلِكَ الْمَسْجِدِ مَوْلًى، وَمَسْكَنُ ذَلِكَ الْمَوْلَى وَأَصْحَابِهِ ثَمَّ، فَلَمَّا سَمِعَهُمْ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ جَاءَ يَشْهَدُ مَعَهُمُ الصَّلَاةَ، فَقَالَ الْمَوْلَى صَاحِبُ الْمَسْجِدِ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ: تَقَدَّمْ فَصَلِّ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: أَنْتَ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ فِي مَسْجِدِكَ، فَصَلَّى الْمَوْلَى
Translation
✧ The prayer was commenced in a mosque in a district of Madinah. He said: Abdullah b. Umar had land near that mosque which he worked. He said: The imam of the people of that mosque was a client, and the dwelling of that client and his companions was there. When Abdullah b. Umar heard them and they commenced the prayer, he came to attend the prayer with them. The client, the owner of the mosque, said to Ibn Umar: Come forward and lead. Abdullah said: You have more right to lead in your mosque. So the client led the prayer.
