✧ The imam's shortening of the prayer

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحُوَيْرِثِ الزُّرَقِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ حُسَيْنٍ يَقُولُ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ:
إِنِّي لَأَسْمَعُ صَوْتَ الصَّبِيِّ وَرَائِي فَأُخَفِّفُ الصَّلَاةَ شَفَقًا أَنْ تُفْتَتَنَ أُمُّهُ
Translation
✧ I hear the sound of a child behind me and lighten the prayer, out of concern that his mother might be distracted.
