✧ The prayer of the Prophet ﷺ

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَأَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:
صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ أَوِ الْعَصْرَ، فَسَهَا فِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَانْصَرَفَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ذُو الشِّمَالَيْنِ ابْنُ عَبْدِ عَمْرٍو - وَكَانَ حَلِيفًا لِبَنِي زُهْرَةَ: أَخُفِّفَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَوْ نَسِيتَ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " مَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ ؟ " فَقَالُوا: صَدَقَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، فَأَتَمَّ بِهِمُ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ نَقَصَ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ prayed Zuhr or Asr and made a mistake in two rak'ahs and finished. Dhu al-Shimalayn b. Abd Amr—who was an ally of Banu Zuhrah—said to him: Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget? The Prophet ﷺ said: What is Dhu al-Yadayn saying? They said: He has spoken the truth, O Prophet of God. So he completed with them the two rak'ahs that he had missed.
