✧ Raising the hands in supplication
3279 3253 - عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى قَوْمًا رَافِعِينَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَوْقَ رُءُوسِهِمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ الثَّوْرِيِّ.

دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْمَسْجِدَ فَرَآهُمْ رَافِعِينَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ مَا لَهُمْ رَافِعِينَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَذْنَابُ الْخَيْلِ الشُّمُسِ اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ saw some people raising their hands above their heads in prayer, then he mentioned the like of the hadith of al-Thawri. The hidden text: The Messenger of God ﷺ entered the mosque and saw them raising their hands in prayer. He said: "What is the matter with them raising their hands as if they were the tails of restive horses? Be still in prayer."
