Translation
✧ Ibn Ṭāwūs caught up with me during circumambulation and struck my shoulder, and said to his father: Your companion intends to make the taslim aloud—meaning Ibn Hishām. He said: The first to make the taslim aloud was ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, and the Anṣār disapproved of that and said: 'And upon you'—that is, 'upon you be peace'—'what is the matter with you?' He said: "I wanted it to be my announcement."
