✧ Abū Mūsā led his companions in a prayer. He said: When he sat, a man among the people said: “Prayer has been joined with righteousness and zakāh.” He said: When Abū Mūsā finished his prayer, he said: “Which of you said such-and-such a word?” The people remained silent. Abū Mūsā said: “O Ḥiṭṭān, perhaps you said it?” He said: I said: “No, by God, I did not say it, and I feared you would rebuke me for it.” A man among the people said: “I said it, and I intended only good by it.” Abū Mūsā said: “Do you not know how to pray? The Messenger of God ﷺ addressed us, explained to us our ways, and taught us our prayer. He said: 'When you pray, straighten your rows, then let one of you lead you. When he says the takbīr, say the takbīr. When he says: “not of those who incur anger nor of those who go astray,” say: “Āmīn,” and God will answer you. When he says the takbīr and bows, say the takbīr and bow, for the imam bows before you and rises before you.'” The Prophet of God ﷺ said: “That is for that. When he says: 'God hears the one who praises Him,' say: 'Our Lord, to You be praise,' and God will hear you, for He decreed upon the tongue of His Prophet ﷺ 'God hears the one who praises Him.' When it comes to the sitting, let one of you say first when he sits: 'Greetings are for God, the good words; prayers are for God. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of God and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of God. I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and His messenger.'”
