عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ:
كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى جِبْرِيلَ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى مِيكَائِيلَ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَا تَقُولُوا السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ السَّلَامُ " قَالَ: فَعَلَّمَهُمُ التَّشَهُّدَ فَقَالَ: " قُولُوا: التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Translation
✧ We used to pray with the Messenger of God ﷺ, and people would say: “Peace be upon God, peace be upon Jibrīl, peace be upon Mīkāʾīl, peace be upon the angels brought near.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not say 'Peace be upon God', for God is al-Salām.” He said: So he taught them the tashahhud, saying: “Say: 'Greetings are for God, and prayers and good words. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of God and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of God. I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and His messenger.'”
