عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، وَمَنْصُورٍ، وَحُصَيْنٍ، وَالْأَعْمَشِ، وَأَبِي هَاشِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، وَعَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ، وَأَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:
كُنَّا لَا نَدْرِي مَا نَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، فَكُنَّا نَقُولُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى جِبْرِيلَ، السَّلَامُ عَلَى مِيكَائِيلَ، فَعَلَّمَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: لَا تَقُولُوا السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ، إِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ السَّلَامُ، فَإِذَا جَلَسْتُمْ فِي رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقُولُوا: التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ " قَالَ أَبُو وَائِلٍ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللهِ: عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ: " إِذَا قُلْتَهَا أَصَابَتْ كُلَّ عَبْدٍ صَالِحٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَفِي الْأَرْضِ، وَقَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللهِ: إِذَا قُلْتَهَا أَصَابَتْ كُلَّ مَلَكٍ مُقَرَّبٍ أَوْ نَبِيٍّ مُرْسَلٍ أَوْ عَبْدٍ صَالِحٍ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
Translation
✧ We did not know what to say in prayer, so we used to say: “Peace be upon God, peace be upon Jibrīl, peace be upon Mīkāʾīl.” The Prophet ﷺ taught us and said: “Do not say 'Peace be upon God', for God is al-Salām. When you sit after two rakʿahs, say: 'Greetings are for God, and prayers and good words. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of God and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of God.'” Abū Wāʾil said in the ḥadīth of ʿAbdullāh, from the Prophet ﷺ: “When you say it, it reaches every righteous servant in the heaven and the earth.” Abū Isḥāq said in the ḥadīth of ʿAbdullāh: “When you say it, it reaches every angel brought near, or prophet sent, or righteous servant. I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muḥammad is His servant and His messenger.”
