حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ أَخْبَرَنِي ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ عَنْ كَاتِبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَسَحَ أَعْلَى الْخُفِّ وَأَسْفَلَهُ

قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا قَوْلُ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَالتَّابِعِينَ وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ مِنَ الْفُقَهَاءِ وَبِهِ يَقُولُ مَالِكٌ وَالشَّافِعِيُّ وَإِسْحَاقُ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ مَعْلُولٌ لَمْ يُسْنِدْهُ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ غَيْرُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَسَأَلْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَقَالاَ لَيْسَ بِصَحِيحٍ لأَنَّ ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ رَوَى هَذَا عَنْ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ رَجَاءِ بْنِ حَيْوَةَ قَالَ حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ كَاتِبِ الْمُغِيرَةِ مُرْسَلٌ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ الْمُغِيرَةَ

machine translationThawr b. Yazīd narrates it, and there is disagreement about what he transmitted. Al-Walīd b. Muslim and Muḥammad b. ʿĪsā b. Sumayʿ narrated it from Thawr, from Rajāʾ, from the scribe of al-Mughīrah, from al-Mughīrah. Likewise al-Shāfiʿī narrated it from some of his companions, from Thawr. But ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Mahdī narrated it from Ibn al-Mubārak, from Thawr, who said: I was told from Rajāʾ b. Ḥaywah, from the scribe of al-Mughīrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, as a mursal report. He said: This hadith is also narrated from ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr, from Warrād, from al-Mughīrah, and it does not mention the bottom of the khuff. Al-Ḥakam b. Hishām and Ismāʿīl b. Ibrāhīm b. al-Muhājir narrated it from ʿAbd al-Malik. He said: The hadith of Rajāʾ b. Ḥaywah, which mentions the top of the khuff and its bottom, is not established, because Ibn al-Mubārak narrated it from Thawr as a mursal report.
