machine translationOn this topic there is also a narration from Dhuʾayb Abū Qabīṣah al-Khuzāʿī. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Nājiyah is a good and sound (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) hadith, and the practice accords with this among the people of knowledge. They said regarding a voluntary sacrificial animal (hady) that, if it is about to die, neither he nor anyone of his travelling companions may eat from it; it is left between it and the people, who eat it, and it suffices for him. This is the opinion of al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad and Isḥāq. They said: If he eats anything from it, he must compensate according to the amount he ate from it. Some of the people of knowledge said: If he eats anything from a voluntary hady, he is liable for what he ate.
