  • Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī

machine translationAl-Ḥākim's statement that it is authentic according to the condition of Muslim is incorrect, because Abān, its narrator from Mujāhid from Jābir, is one for whom Muslim did not narrate anything, and the hadith is his and revolves around him.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Ibn Ḥazm

machine translationA weak (ḍaʿīf) hadith, because it was narrated by Abān b. Ṣāliḥ, and he is not the well-known one.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Bazzār

machine translationThis is a hadith we do not know. It is narrated from Jābir in this wording with a chain better than this chain.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Aḥmad b. Ḥanbal

machine translationIt is not authentic because Abān is weak (ḍaʿīf).

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIbn Lahīʿah from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir from Abū Qatādah is not preserved (maḥfūẓ). The hadith is well known from Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh from the Prophet ﷺ, narrated by Muḥammad b. Isḥāq from Abān b. Ṣāliḥ from Mujāhid from Jābir.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Bazzār

machine translationWe do not know this hadith to be narrated from Jābir in this wording with a chain better than this chain.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Abū Zakariyyā Yaḥyá b. Sharaf al-Nawawī

machine translationIn the chain of this hadith is Ibn Isḥāq from Abān, and Ibn Isḥāq is a concealer of defects (mudallis). When a mudallis says "from" (ʿan), he is not relied upon. So how did al-Tirmidhī grade it ḥasan?

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThis hadith is not authentic.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9

machine translationThe hadith is authentic and acted upon.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Ibn Ḥazm

machine translationThe hadith is not authentic.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationAl-Nawawī withheld judgement on it because of Ibn Isḥāq's use of "from" (ʿanʿanah), but he explicitly stated direct narration (taḥdīth) in the narration of Aḥmad and others.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationIbn ʿAbd al-Barr weakened it because of Abān b. Ṣāliḥ, but he was mistaken in that, for he is trustworthy (thiqah) by agreement. Ibn Ḥazm claimed that he is unknown (majhūl), and he erred.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThe hadith of Jābir is not sound (ṣaḥīḥ) such that it should be relied upon, because Abān b. Ṣāliḥ, who narrates it, is weak (ḍaʿīf).

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 9
  • al-Tirmidhi
