machine translationHe said: On this topic there are also narrations from Ibn Buḥaynah, ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr, ʿAbdullāh b. Sarjis, Ibn ʿAbbās and Anas. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Abū Hurayrah is a good (ḥasan) hadith. Likewise Ayyūb, Warqāʾ b. ʿUmar, Ziyād b. Saʿd, Ismāʿīl b. Muslim and Muḥammad b. Juḥādah narrated it from ʿAmr b. Dīnār, from ʿAṭāʾ b. Yasār, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ. Ḥammād b. Zayd and Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah narrated it from ʿAmr b. Dīnār but did not trace it back to the Prophet (they did not make it marfūʿ). The raised (marfūʿ) hadith is more authentic (aṣaḥḥ) in our view. The practice according to some of the people of knowledge, from the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ and others, is that when the prayer is called (iqāmah), a man should pray nothing but the obligatory prayer. This is the view of Sufyān al-Thawrī, Ibn al-Mubārak, al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad and Isḥāq. This hadith has also been narrated from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, by another route: ʿAyyāsh b. ʿAbbās al-Qitbānī al-Miṣrī narrated it from Abū Salamah, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, similar to this.
