machine translationAbū ʿĪsā said: On this topic there are also narrations from Ibn Masʿūd, ʿĀʾishah, Unaysah, Anas, Abū Dharr and Samurah. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Ibn ʿUmar is a good and sound (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) hadith. The people of knowledge differed regarding the call to prayer during the night. Some of the people of knowledge said: If the muʾadhdhin gives the call to prayer at night, it suffices him and he does not repeat it. This is the saying of Mālik, Ibn al-Mubārak, al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad and Isḥāq. Some of the people of knowledge said: If he gives the call at night, he must repeat it, and this is what Sufyān al-Thawrī says. Ḥammād b. Salamah narrated from Ayyūb, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar that Bilāl gave the call to prayer at night, so the Prophet ﷺ commanded him to announce: 'The servant has slept.' Abū ʿĪsā said: This hadith is not preserved (ghayr maḥfūẓ). ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī said: The hadith of Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Ayyūb, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, from the Prophet ﷺ, is not preserved, and Ḥammād b. Salamah made a mistake in it.
