Notes

machine translationAbū ʿĪsā said: This ḥadīth of ʿAlī is a good and authentic (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) ḥadīth. More than one of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ and the Successors have held this view. They said: A man may recite the Qur'an without ablution, but he may not recite from the muṣḥaf unless he is in a state of purity. This is also the view of Sufyān al-Thawrī, al-Shāfiʿī, Aḥmad and Isḥāq.
