machine translationHe said: On this topic there is also a narration from Abū Rāfiʿ. Abū ʿĪsā said: The hadith of Anas, that the Prophet ﷺ used to go around to his wives with a single bath (ghusl), is a good and sound (ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ) hadith. It is the view of more than one of the people of knowledge, among them al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī, that there is no harm in returning to his wife before performing ablution. Muḥammad b. Yūsuf also narrated this from Sufyān, saying: from Abū ʿUrwah, from Abū al-Khaṭṭāb, from Anas. Abū ʿUrwah is Maʿmar b. Rāshid, and Abū al-Khaṭṭāb is Qatādah b. Diʿāmah. Abū ʿĪsā said: Some of them narrated it from Muḥammad b. Yūsuf, from Sufyān, from Ibn Abī ʿUrwah, from Abū al-Khaṭṭāb, and that is a mistake; the correct version is from Abū ʿUrwah.

  • Ibn Khuzaymah
