✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was praying when al-Hasan came and climbed onto his back, so he placed him down gently. When he finished his prayer, he embraced him and kissed him. They said: 'O Messenger of God, you did with al-Hasan something you had not done before!' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'This son of mine is a chief; through him God, Mighty and Majestic, will reconcile two factions of the Muslims.'

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAḥmad b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad al-Nahrawānī, who is well known and unobjectionable, narrated it from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from Ayyūb, from al-Ḥasan, but he erred in it. Rather, Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Abū Mūsā Isrāʾīl, from al-Ḥasan, from Abū Bakrah. Likewise Yūnus, Manṣūr and ʿAmr b. ʿUbayd narrated it from al-Ḥasan, and that is the established version.
