حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ، قَالَ:

" الْوِتْرُ لَيْسَ بِحَتْمٍ، وَلَكِنَّهُ سُنَّةٌ حَسَنَةٌ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، إِنَّ اللهَ وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ ; فَأَوْتِرُوا يَا أَهْلَ الْقُرْآنِ

Translation

✧ "The witr is not obligatory, but it is a good sunna from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Indeed, Allah is odd and loves the odd, so perform witr, O people of the Qur'an."
