حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَتَيْنِ، يُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ، وَيُطِيلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مَا لَا يُطِيلُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ، وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ، وَيَقْرَأُ بِنَا فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ يُطِيلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مَا لَا يُطِيلُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr the Opening of the Book and two surahs, making us hear a verse, and he would prolong the first rak'ah more than the second. In the last two, he recited the Opening of the Book. He would recite with us in the Fajr prayer, prolonging the first rak'ah more than the second.
