حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ
أَنَّ قُرَيْشًا لَمَّا اسْتَصْعَبَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ " دَعَا عَلَيْهِمُ السِّنِينَ حَتَّى أَكَلُوا الْمَيْتَةَ وَالْعِظَامَ، حَتَّى جَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ يَقُومُ فَيَرَى مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ مِثْلَ الدُّخَانِ، فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ

✧ When Quraysh became obstinate against the Messenger of God ﷺ, he supplicated against them for years of famine until they ate carrion and bones, until a man would stand and see between him and the sky something like smoke. That is His saying, exalted is He: 'The day when the sky will bring visible smoke.'
