حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ، سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

" لَيْلَةُ الضَّيْفِ حَقٌّ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ، مَنْ أَصْبَحَ الضَّيْفُ بِفِنَائِهِ فَهُوَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ حَقٌّ - أَوْ قَالَ: دَيْنٌ - إِنْ شَاءَ اقْتَضَاهُ وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ

Translation

✧ "The guest's night is a right upon every Muslim. Whoever wakes up with the guest at his courtyard, it is a right upon him"—or he said: "a debt"—"if he wishes he may claim it, and if he wishes he may leave it."
