حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَمْعَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا اطَّلَعَ فِي حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِدْرًى يَحُكُّ بِهِ رَأْسَهُ، فَقَالَ: لَوْ أَنِّي أَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَنْظُرُ لَقُمْتُ حَتَّى أَطْعَنَ بِهِ فِي عَيْنَيْكَ، إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِذْنُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْبَصَرِ

Translation

✧ A man looked into the room of the Prophet ﷺ while the Prophet ﷺ had a comb with which he was scratching his head. He said: "If I knew that you were looking, I would stand up and poke it into your eyes. Permission was only made because of seeing."
