حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ وَإِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي فَزَارَةَ الْعَبْدِيِّ ثنا أَبُو زَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
لَمَّا كَانَ لَيْلَةُ الْجِنِّ تَخَلَّفَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلَانِ قَالَا نَشْهَدُ الْفَجْرَ مَعَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟» قُلْتُ لَيْسَ مَعِي مَاءٌ وَلَكِنْ مَعِي إِدَاوَةٌ فِيهَا نَبِيذٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَمْرَةٌ طَيِّبَةٌ وَمَاءٌ طَهُورٌ» فَتَوَضَّأَ قَالَ إِسْرَائِيلُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ

✧ On the night of the jinn, two of them stayed behind and said, “We will witness the dawn prayer with you, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “Do you have water?” I said, “I have no water, but I have a water-skin containing nabīdh.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “A good date and purifying water,” and he performed ablution. Isrāʾīl said in his version: Then he prayed the morning prayer.
