✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and said: “I have been commanded to recite to your brethren among the jinn. Let a man from you stand with me, and let no man stand who has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride.” I stood with him and took a water-skin containing nabīdh and went with him. When he went out, he drew a line for me and said: “Do not step out of it, for if you step out, you will not see me nor I you until the Day of Resurrection.” Then he went and disappeared from me until I could not see him. When dawn broke, he came back and said to me: “I see you standing?” I said, “I have not sat down.” He said: “It would not have harmed you if you had.” I said, “I feared I might step out of it.” He said: “Indeed, if you had stepped out, you would not have seen me nor I you until the Day of Resurrection. Do you have water for ablution?” I said, “No.” He said, “What is this water-skin?” I said, “It contains nabīdh.” He said, “A good date and purifying water.” Then he performed ablution and began the prayer. When he finished the prayer, two men from the jinn came to him and asked him for provisions. He said, “Did I not command provisions for you and your people with what is good for you?” They said, “Yes, but we wanted some of us to witness the prayer with you.” He said, “Which people are you from?” They said, “From the people of Naṣībīn.” He said, “These two have succeeded and their people have succeeded,” and he commanded for them dung and bones as food and meat. The Prophet ﷺ forbade cleaning oneself with bone or dung.
