حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَبِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
كُنَّا إِذَا جَلَسْنَا قُلْنَا السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى جِبْرِيلَ فَسَمِعَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ السَّلَامُ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَقُلْ التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ

✧ When we sat (in prayer), we used to say: 'Peace be upon God, peace be upon Jibrīl.' The Prophet ﷺ heard us and said: 'Indeed God is al-Salām (the Source of Peace). So when one of you sits in prayer, let him say: "Greetings, prayers, and good things are due to God. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of God and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of God."'
